So many things can come up while traveling and I've often found myself thinking, "Agh, if I just had ___ right now!"
After few too many of those moments and several trips to the local pharmacy while in various countries, I've assembled my version of a first-aid kit. I almost always take this or a variation of it with me, whether I'm doing a weekend get away, a camping trip, or a full vacation.
From the top left and going clockwise - here are a few of my must packs and several other things that made it in to my most recent version, loosely organized into personal care, cold care, sleep, topical care, and odds and ends.
Assortment of teas (Nature's Medicine or Yogi brand)- it can feel a little bit witch doctor-y, however, having a handful of tea that I usually drink at home to target a few specific things is TOP of my first aid packing list. I think having something familiar with you can be a comforting routine in a new place or during travel stress, and then there's the added benefit of each type of tea.
My favorites for travel:
Smooth Move - iykyk. Key for day after travel and we love it for bread heavy, veggie low days or places
Throat Coat - a fave! Feels so nice after dry airplane air, a late night out, or if you feel a travel cold coming on
Ginger - so nice for funky bellies. Soothing, comforting, and can help settle things down
Cold Care- Dayquil/Nyquil, Cold-Eeze, and Emergen-C packets to handle symptoms if you start to feel a cold coming on. Unless you are going somewhere very isolated, you should be able to pick up additional supplies if you need them, but it's helpful to have a few simple fixes on hand! We also love the Vicks Vapoinhaler -great for stuffed sinuses after long travel days.
Vitamins/Supplements - if it is something you take daily or keep on hand in case you need it - bring a few with you! I pack Claritin, Calm gummies, melatonin, charcoal pills, and Cheers or Fly By pills if I have them on hand!
Topical First-Aide Care - a few supplies to treat bumps and scrapes. Neosporin, Cortisone cream, a heat patch, and muscle rub. Band-aids for any cuts or injuries and perfect for blisters if you're in a pinch!
Odds & Ends - eye drops for bleary travel eyes, Clorox wipes for ALL of the surfaces, a Tide To Go stick for fashion first-aid for those bumped plane beverages, coffee drips, and lunch spills, and a travel-size Poo-purri- especially on a group trip, you'll thank yourself for bring this little spray bottle. Key for places where the people out number the bathrooms.
Mix and match your kit based on the things you find yourself wishing you had on hand!
One note, we are not a doctors, nurses, or any kind of health care professionals. These are all things we have used and like, but please do not take this as any sort of medical advice!
